About
The Practitioner's Desk.
I'm Kush. I've traded markets for fifteen years — US indices, single-name equities, commodities, and FX — through three cycles, two corrections nobody saw coming, and roughly a thousand setups that didn't work. This site is the public-facing version of my working notes.
Why this exists
Most of what gets written about trading on the internet is either marketing for a course, a signals service in disguise, or self-congratulation after a single winning screenshot. The traders I respect — the ones whose books I still re-read, the ones I quietly DM with questions — none of them publish that way.
KushTrades exists to publish at the level I would actually want to read at: short enough that a working trader can finish it before the open, long enough to actually say something, and honest enough to include the trades that didn't work.
What I trade and how
The primary book is US indices — SPX and NDX, both cash and futures (ES, NQ). The secondary book is single-name US equities, almost always large-cap with a clear catalyst. I keep small positions in gold, oil, and DXY-led FX majors. I don't trade options for income, I don't trade exotic FX, I don't trade crypto with size, and I don't day-trade things I haven't watched for months.
Methodology is a working hybrid of top-down macro (regime, rates, breadth), price action (volume profile, session structure, market profile concepts), and brutally honest sizing rules. The full framework is here.
What I got wrong
March 2020. I was structurally bearish into the crash and unstructured for the recovery — I made money on the way down and gave a lot of it back chasing the v-bottom in tech. The lesson wasn't the trade, it was the position-sizing on a regime change I half-recognised and didn't act on quickly enough.
November 2021. I missed the top in growth names because I was anchored to "Fed is still printing." The lesson wasn't the missed top, it was being too slow to update when the data changed.
I write these things down because anybody who tells you they've never had a bad quarter is lying or hasn't been trading long enough. The track record is here, including the months I'd rather forget.
Code of conduct
- No signals. Ever. Not paid, not free, not "implied."
- No paid pumps. No undisclosed affiliate relationships. No fake screenshots.
- No personalised investment advice — that's a regulated activity, and I'm not regulated for it.
- Every commercial relationship that affects what I write is disclosed in the post.
- Losses get written about with the same care as wins.
External validations
I've spoken on a handful of trading podcasts and contributed to a few publications over the years. As those go live for kushtrades.co.uk, they'll be listed here. If you'd like me on yours, the contact form is at the bottom of every page.
One more thing
This is a publication, not a service. The most valuable thing I can give you is a weekly note you actually read. Get the Monday briefing.
